Ferries
You can reach Elba island by embarking at Piombino Marittima; the ferry will take one hour’s crossing. There are currently four shipping companies operating the connection: Blu Navy, Moby Lines/Toremar, and Corsica Ferries. These have comfortable ferries and fast means of transport that make multi-day journeys; in the summer period about every 30 minutes. The main harbor on Elba is Portoferraio, followed by Rio Marina and Cavo.
The company Toremar has a fast ‘hydrofoil’, for passenger transport only (no car allowed), which reaches Portoferraio in just 40 minutes.
